| BATMAN: HOLLYWOOD KNIGHT #2 UNPUBLISHED COVER |
.
|
In 2001, as a follow-up to our Batman special project "Dark Knight of the Round Table," Dick Giordano and I proposed to do an Elseworld series that involved the original Batman movie serial of the 1940s. During the time that we were producing this project, both Dickie and I came up with a plethora of cover designs, most of which wound up in the circular file. Of the three covers I designed for the mini-series, the layout for #1 was used, but #2 & #3 were rejected for reasons I can't recall. Just recently, I came upon the pencils to the two rejected covers and decided to ink them and add the trade-dress for April's "Art Find of the Month". By the way, this unpublished cover is for sale for a mere $300.00! And now, a little about this issue's story itself: The Elseworlds miniseries continues! Suffering a serious injury to the head, actor Byron Wyatt is now convinced he has always been his most famous role...Batman. Now "Batman" is set on getting revenge against studio mogul Jack "the Joker" Napier for Wyatt's "murder."
