This month's art find is
something I'm positive that none of you have seen before.
Back in the very early
days of Valiant, the company offered it's services to create
commercial comics for diverse products and clients, such as
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, Land of the Lost Action Figure box
art and the like.
This particular project,
'P.R. Man', had to be the strangest, without a doubt.
It was commissioned to be
an oversized birthday card for the head of a major New York
advertising firm. The reason I'm running this is that
it was done by the same team that brought you Magnus:
Robot Fighter, namely Jim Shooter (writer), Art Nichols
(penciller) and me (inker).
Frankly, I find the whole
thing a bit disturbing--but this is what "Art Find of the
Month" is all about--digging-up obscure and rare stuff out of
my vault.
And this definitely
qualifies!
