This month's video blog is from an episode of THE JIM GERARD SHOW that I appeared on in 1986. This guest spot was part of a nation-wide Marvel promotion tour which had me traveling to the Midwest, Denver, Los Angeles and finally, Hawaii . All of which was designed to hype my new series, X-FACTOR. This local talk show, which was a long-running, daily program in the Indianapolis area, had the most bizarre format of any I'd ever seen. Jim would present three guests, and then, literally jump back and forth between them with no apparent design to the conversation . It could best be described as "A.D.D. Theater"! Being a hometown boy, I had been a guest on the show on previous occasions and knew Jim, who was a great fellow and a good sport, by the way. However, Jim had a unfortunate tendency to tease. So this time, I came prepared to fire back. I had recently returned to the U.S. from a Marvel promo tour in England and I had changed my fashion statement to reflect what was going on over there at the time. Needless to say, in a very conservative place like Indiana in the 80's, some people had a hard time adjusting to the look--like Jim. By the way, I never took those sunglasses off until sometime in the mid-nineties. (Don't ask!) The other two guests that day, author Julia Gilman and Dr. Barry Charles, were very nice people--but incredibly dull. In formatting this video, we decided to spare you the leap-frogging conversations with them and focus on the silliness between Jim and me.
