POWER MAN & IRON FIST #85

UNPUBLISHED COVER! 

  I recently found this penciled cover in a box labeled 'Shanna's stuff".  In the box were drawings that were   done by my daughter when she was 8 or 9 years old.  Imagine my shock to find that she had done a wonderful crayon illustration on the back of a proposed cover to PM & I. F. that I did back when I was scheduled to take over as writer/inker of the series. I tried to erase the crayon as best I could, but whoever winds-up with this unpublished cover will have two Layton drawings for the price of one. Sorry about that.

BTW: I never got the opportunity to take over the Power Man and Iron Fist series because Jim Shooter kept pulling me off the assignment to do special projects for Marvel, such as the Secret Wars comic and toy designs for the Mattel line, Copperhead--storyboards for a film project for George A. Romero, etc.  Eventually, I lost enthusiasm for the Power Man & Iron Fist project and went on to doing a second run of Iron Man with David Michelinie. In retrospect, it was the correct decision--but I'll always wonder what might have been.
