Hi Bob,
I realize you are (rightly so!) insanely busy right now and commissions are the last thing you might worry about, but is there any rough way of knowing where a person might be sitting in the commission queue? Also, did I recall you mentioning an interview on the Iron Man DVD? I preordered it today, but Blockbuster didn't mention anything special on their ad.

Cheers,
Mike Cross

Mike,
To answer your last question first: I did about 90 minutes of interview footage for the DVD release. Back in September of 2006. I was contacted by Jon Mefford and Eric Young from Sparkhill--a prestigious video production company in Hollywood that specializes in creating special features material for the DVD release of major motion pictures.
(See October 2006 archive feature)

It was a blast doing the Iron Man interview, which I learned, was to be broken up between the Iron Man film's special features DVD and the Iron Man cartoon DVD which was released last year. I have yet to hear whether that footage made it to the upcoming Iron Man release. (But I was 25 pounds heavier then—so I’m kind hoping against it!)

I realize that my current schedule, bouncing between Hollywood and my Marvel assignments, has put me behind the ‘8-Ball’ as far as completing my commissions in a timely fashion. Most of you on the list, many who have ordered art from me more than one time, should know that I generally pride myself on a timely turn around.
Unfortunately, there’s no way that I couldn’t have anticipated the volume of work over the last few months. And—although I can’t discuss the details at the moment, I‘m working hard to bring several Michelinie/Layton creations to the screen—including a television series based on this website’s comic—COLONY!
In fact, I just got back from Hollywood on Saturday, September 13th after a week of whirlwind meetings and now I'm scrambling to finish up Iron Man:The End before the 26th.
After that, I have to go back out to Tinseltown on Sept. 28th for two more weeks from 9/28/08 through 10/11/08. Then, its back to my Tampa base to get to work your (and everyone else’s) commissions. Oh—and during the two weeks that I’m in L.A., I have to fly to Columbus, OH over the weekend of October 4th to appear at this year’s Mid-Ohio Con!
I know some of you have been waiting for a while, but I promise to make the long stretch worth the wait and Santa may even bring you all something special this year for being so patient with me.
That being said, because of the numerous Hollywood activities and my upcoming mini-series for Marvel in 2009, I will not be accepting any more commissions through the end of 2008.

Bob
