UNITY #1 VARIANT COVER

This variant cover was done for my long-time friend and current Hollywood film and television producer David Uslan.  David was a frequent visitor to the Valiant offices when he was a kid and has remained an ardent fan of the characters.  His father, my longtime friend and Batfilms Executive Producer Michael Uslan, always took the time out of his busy schedule to bring David up to see me during the glory days of Valiant and I'm incredibly proud that the adult David has chosen to follow in his father's illustrious footsteps.

IRON MAN: AGENT OF SHIELD VARIANT RECREATION

This page was commissioned by Douglas Oberg and is an homage to one of my idols--Jim Steranko who designed the original cover.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #21 VARIANT RECREATION

This cover, originally pencilled by the late, great Mike Sekowsky, was commissioned by frequent client Rick Shiu and replaces the original JLA members with Rick's favorite super-babes!

ALL WINNERS COMICS #11 RECREATION

This Golden Age cover, originally rendered by Alex Schomburg, was commissioned by Simon Sanchez.

THE AVENGERS: THE KREE/SKRULL WAR TPB RECREATION

This cover, originally drawn by Neal Adams, was commissioned by Matthew Siu.  I'm uncomfortable doing recreations of work by guys like Neal--for a myriad of reasons.  Mostly out of respect.  Neal is, without dispute,  an industry icon. So, if I may offer a bit of sage advice, here's a quick guideline for asking for recreations:

1) Pick an artist that is no longer available.  It's very difficult to get an original Gil Kane cover these days, so I have no problem doing a variant of his work or anyone who is no longer with us. Or better yet, choose a cover that I actually had a hand in creating.

2) Some artists, who currently charge outrageous fees for their art, also have extremely bad tempers! (I'm not referring to you, Neal! He's is a very gracious guy)  That's why you're asking me to do it instead of THEM!!  I, on the other hand, have no desire to make MORE enemies in the biz.  So, pick your future recreation wisely and make my life a lot easier in the process!

X-MEN #141/LEGION OF SUPERHEROES VARIANT RECREATION

Speaking of which, here's a variant cover that I've officially done for THE LAST TIME!!!!  Here's my reasons:

1) To put it bluntly--John Byrne doesn't like me.  Not that I give a damn about that-- I'm only trying to make a living and keep my fans happy. But, it is problematic.

2) I had absolutely nothing to do with his original design for X-Men #141, yet I keep getting asked to recreate the damned thing!! Regardless of the man and his controversial opinions, I respect Byrne's body of work and I know he doesn't appreciate other illustrators recreating his art. I will respect his wishes and cease doing Byrne recreations.

3) Although #141is probably Byrne's best known cover (and it IS brilliant), I'm freakin' sick of it!

Oh, this recreation was commissioned by Edward Walker.  (Sorry for the rant, Ed! Not your fault!)

AVENGERS #92/LEGION OF SUPERHEROES VARIANT RECREATION

Did you read my comments on the Adams/Avengers TPB recreation? The same goes here!

Let's move to the next page in the gallery...please?

POWER GIRL AND THE GOLDEN AGE FLASH:

Supporting Our Troops-Minefield Clearance In Iraq

Kevin Hare sent me a challenging concept to draw for his commission. The plot for the picture had both of the J.S.A. heroes in Iraq helping clearing up a minefield.  The idea was that this would allow the American soldiers to bring much needed food and protection to a village overrun with insurgents.  I didn't have the heart to tell Kevin that, on Earth II, Al Gore won the election!

THE SAVAGE ROGUE/CONAN #1 VARIANT RECREATION

This page, featuring Rogue of the X-Men in the Savage Land, was commissioned by Larry Tun and was based on the original cover layout of Conan #1 by Barry Windsor-Smith.

THE HULK #181 VARIANT recreation

This page, originally rendered by one of my favorite people in the comic industry Herb Trimpe, was also commissioned by Larry Tun.

IRON MAN QUAD COVER VARIANT RECREATION

HEROES FOR HIRE#4 VARIANT RECREATION

IRON MAN MEETS VERTIGO'S DEATH DOUBLE-PAGE SPREAD

This two-page spread page, crammed full of the history of Iron Man, was also commissioned by Matt Siu and features an appearance by the Death character from DC's Vertigo Comics. (I'm not sure why, either)

IRON MAN single figure #1

This is a promotional drawing I did for my upcoming New York Tri-State book signing on July 11-13. (Check out the news section of my features page for specific dates and locations)

IRON MAN single figure #2

This page was commissioned by Peter Manolakos.

IRON MAN single figure #3

And-- this one was commissioned  by Dominick Glepsen of Jacksonville, FL.

pOWER GIRL SINGLE FIGURE

This drawing of the overly-endowed Daughter of Krypton was also done for Kevin Hare.

For those of you who are on my waiting list for a commissioned drawing, please keep in mind that I'm hard at work inking the IRON MAN:THE END special edition.  Additionally , I will be on the road promoting the release of Iron Man: Legacy of Doom mini-series & IRON MAN:THE END.

Normally, I would be turning your commissioned drawings around quickly (as I'm known for doing).  But, recently, I only have a very small window of time each month to devote to my beloved art clients.

Your patience is greatly appreciated and I will do everything in my power to complete your commissions in a timely fashion.

Thank you.
