Iron Man "Bad Blood" #3 Cover
This
was originally planned to be the cover to the
third installment of my “Bad Blood”
mini-series. However,
Bobbie Chase was not happy that I made Blacklash
the central figure—because Joe Q had recently
redesigned the character into some kind of S
&M character. So, I redrew the cover
with Rhodey as the
central figure and this piece went into limbo—until
now. |

cover to Iron Man #250 Anniversary
issue
This
was the original cover to the second Camelot/
Dr. Doom story.
Barry Windsor Smith (who
I was staying with at the time I was drawing
this) convinced me to throw out this
cover and do something more fanciful and
Camelot-ie.
Ultimately, I did a homage on a famous
pre-Raphaelite influence of BWS’s)
for the final cover.

IRON
MAN #132 COVER recreation
This
is a recreated version of the original cover
which was recently sold from Iron Man' writer
David Michelinie's private collection. Before
David sold the piece, I asked him to provide me
with a full-sized copy of the original, so I
could duplicate it line-for- line. This is
probably the closest I ever gotten to perfectly
duplicating an older work of mine. |

Iron Man #241 Splash Page
This
page was finished from a page breakdown by Denys
Cowan.
If
memory serves me correctly, the splash was
bounced, due to the lack of an establishing shot
of Downtown Hong Kong (which
was expressly called for in the script).
The
actual published page wound-up being penciled
and inked by me, since Denys
was not available to do any redraws. |

IRON
MAN VS. Justin hammer & the ghost
This
piece was commissioned by a very nice young
woman as a birthday present for a dear friend.
However,
since that birthday isn't until the first
quarter of 2005, I'm forced to withhold any
further information until the lucky boy receives
her gift.
Happy
B-Day in advance! |

DEEP
SEA ARMOR PIN-UP IRON MAN ANNUAL #10
This
is another piece, penciled and inked by moi,
from David Michelinie's private collection.
It
was originally done as a pin-up to fill out that
year's annual from a rejected cover rough for
Iron Man #218. It's
also a testament to what the passage of time
does to our memories: David doesn't remember
what it was originally for and I don't remember
giving it to him. Imagine both our
surprises...! |

YET
ANOTHER VERSION OF THE INFAMOUS "HALL OF
IRON" POSTER With the original gray armor
I'm
not going to do another one of these friggin',
back-breaking pieces for a long,
long time-! |

star
hunters #6 cover
This
was the original series that brought the
Michelinie/ Layton together for the first time
as co-plotters. As you probably know, we
moved on from this series and DC Comics to pick
up the reins on Iron Man (and, as they
say--the rest is history). This particular
cover was penciled by Rich Buckler and inked by
me. I'll
always have a soft spot for this series...mostly
because it was the beginning of a terrific
thirty year collaboration and friendship. |

IRON
MAN #134 COVER recreation
I've
always hated this cover. Granted, it was one of
those covers that I was forced to do under an
extreme deadline, so I didn't have time to
construct it as well as I should have (I was
still a fledgling artist at the time, remember?)
I tried to fix some of that on this
recreation--which was tough to do without
changing the entire composition. |

NEW
FREEMIND COSTUME MODEL SHEET
This
is a model page of the new Freemind uniform that
was originally designed by Mike Leeke for Future
Comics. Since Mike had faxed his pencil
design to me, we had nothing that was
reproducible to use for licensing
reference. I sat down and redrew the page
from Mike's concept...and this was the
result. After all, you can't very well
hand a movie producer a second hand fax, now can
you? |

LEIF
TVENSTRUP'S FOURTH BIRTHDAY CARD
:
My daughter's oldest son has just turned four and
he's figuring out what I do for a living.
Leif
is crazzzzy about two things: Dinosaurs and
Spider-Man! So,
this is what I came up with as a birthday card for
him. And
...yes, I don't allow him to called me
"Grandfather" (I'm still way too
young to feel comfortable with that title.),
so I came up with the Rap name, "Biggie
G". |

IRON
MAN #126 COVER recreation
This
is a piece that was done several months ago and I
forgot to post it.
This
was obviously meant to be a take-off on the Tales
of Suspense #39 cover which featured the first
appearance of Iron Man. The original #126 cover
was penciled by John Romita Jr.
Even
though it was an homage', it has consistently been
one of the more popular covers that JRJR & I
did on our first run of Iron Man. |
